WHAT WILL JESUS BE DOING CHRISTMAS EVE?
by Mariane Holbrook
I wonder what our Saviour will be doing Christmas Eve.
Will he be pleased with what He sees or do you think He’ll grieve?
Will Jesus’ name be written on some presents ‘neath the tree
Or will he be forgotten, an unwelcome absentee?
Will candles grace His birthday cake for this, our Saviour’s birth?
Will we sing “Happy Birthday” and include him in our mirth?
Will cookies be set out for Him surrounded by applause?
Or will the note beside the plate say they’re for Santa Claus?
I wonder if our Saviour looks around for families
Who read the story of His birth, then fall down on their knees
To thank the dear Lord Jesus for that night so long ago
When He was born in Bethlehem and caused that star to glow.
He loves to see us happy with our decorated trees
And loves to see us giving gifts to those we want to please.
But at this Christmas season when we give and we receive,
Remember, without Jesus there would be no Christmas Eve.
