MY CELESTIAL BRIDAL GOWN
                by Mariane Holbrook

I seek not the garments that kings and queens wear,
Their robes trimmed with jewels, so costly and rare;
I yearn not for fabrics from far eastern lands,
Exotic, perfumed, made by strong, skillful hands.

I dream not of satins or rare schiffli lace
Or gowns which flow freely with beauty and grace.
No diamond tiara will grace my coiffed hair
I’d rather dress simply, though I am His heir.

My heart longs for something God promised to me
The day that He saved me and set my soul free.
He promised to take me Home where I belong
To be Jesus’ bride that I’ve dreamed of so long.

The gown I’ll be wearing, He fashioned for me
From the robe that He wore there on dark Calvary
What price did He pay for my gown as His bride?
It cost Him His life, ‘twas for me Jesus died.
